Make the first line do one job
The opening should create a reason to read the next line. It does not need to summarize the whole argument.
Use concrete pressure
Numbers, deadlines, contrasts, and consequences beat vague superlatives. “This changed everything” asks the reader to supply the importance. “I cut the page from 11 fields to 3—and signups doubled” carries its own proof.
Open loops carefully
Curiosity works when the payoff is real. Do not hide the only useful fact behind five empty lines.
Three reliable structures
- Unexpected result: I expected X. The number said Y.
- Cost of delay: Every month you wait costs…
- Specific contradiction: The headline says X. Your budget says Y.
